Carroll Gardens Nanny Association

The Carroll Gardens Nanny Association (CGNA) is a member-led organization where nannies, house cleaners, and home care attendants, come together to support each other and raise standards in the domestic work industry.  We are based in Carroll Gardens and open to anyone who currently works or has worked as a domestic worker in any neighborhood.  All domestic workers are welcome: nannies, house cleaners, home care attendants.

What We Believe

  • All domestic workers should know their rights and their worth 

  • All domestic workers deserve a living wage, the right to a contract, overtime pay, paid sick time, and paid time off

What We Do

 
  • Job training and preparedness including skills training, health and safety on the job, negotiation training, CPR + First Aid, and more

  • Legal support with immigration, housing, and workplace issues

  • Provide one-on-one support with work issues such as resume support, interview practice, or creating a work agreement

  • Service referrals for rental assistance, affordable housing, food access, English classes, and other programs available through the government and our partner organizations

What Does it Mean To Be A Member?

  • You believe in our vision of all domestic workers deserving a living wage, the right to a contract, overtime pay, paid sick time, and paid time off

  • You commit to join other domestic workers in supporting each other and building power to raise standards in the domestic work industry

  • You participate by attending meetings and events

  • You pay your membership fee of $60
