The primary adult caregivers in a child's life can nurture pre-reading skills at home through foundational practices: reading, writing, singing, talking, and playing. A great way to engage in more than one of these pillars of emergent literacy, is to read picture books with young children.
Join CGNA and Kendra Tyson, Library Media Specialist at NYU's Steinhardt School of Education, in a professional development workshop to discover ways to engage young children in strong language and literacy experiences. Learn about emergent literacy practices that caregivers can use to support school readiness and a life-long love of reading. Participants will recieve a certificate of completion from NYU that can be used in portfolios and resumes. The course is free but space is limited so registration is required. After registration we will confirm your place. Reach out to Ben at 917-225-9988 with any questions.
