Despite the threats of heavy rain and two tornadoes, the afternoon of September 8th, 2012 was perfect weather for holding the 2012 Annual Columbia Waterfront Fall Festival. Families with children and various members of the community came out after the weather has cleared. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon of food from various local restaurants and vendors, shopping from merchants and local stores, and listening to jazz music from the Columbia Waterfront Quartet and blues from the Union Band. Kids had fun with the rides and the free tennis lessons from the South Brooklyn Tennis Association. Downstate Long Island College Hospital provided free health screenings to the general public during the event. Our elected officials, State Senator Daniel Squadron, Assemblywoman Joan Millman, and Council Member Brad Lander showed support for the event and greeted the community. The 4th Annual Columbia Waterfront Fall Festival was hosted by Carroll Gardens Association, Inc. in partnership with the Columbia Waterfront District Merchants Association. This year’s sponsors included Apple Bank, Ascot Properties NYC, Jabus Building Corporation, TD Bank, Downstate Long Island College Hospital and Carpingo. Donors included Ramon Cartasano of Cartasano J. Brown LLC, Mr. Boris Baranov of Prudential Life Insurance, Mr. Paul DiAgostino of the House of Pizza and Calzone, and the Red Hook Star-Revue.
