CGA to Hold Entitlement Workshop

Carroll Gardens Association, Inc. will hold an Entitlement Workshop on Saturday, December 4th, 2010 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the CGA Office located at 201 Columbia Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231. Ms. Cynthia Gonzalez, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, will conduct the workshop and discuss programs and services that benefit families, children, young adults, the elderly, and the disabled. Topics for discussion include the following:

Financial Assistance Programs

  • Cash Assistance
  • Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
  • Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit

Food and Nutrition Programs

  • Commodity Supplement Food Program (CSFP)
  • Food Stamps
  • WIC

Housing Programs

  • Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption Program (SCRIE)
  • Disabled Rent Increase Exemption Program (DRIE)
  • School Tax Relief Program (STAR)
  • Veteran’s Exemption

Employment and Training Programs

  • In-School Youth Employment Program
  • Workforce 1
  • Senior Employment Services (SES)
  • Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)

Health Care Services

  • Nurse-Family Services (for first time pregnant females)

Health Insurance Programs

  • Family Health Plus/Medicaid
  • Medicaid Programs for Children and Adult
  • Medicaid Excess Income Program
  • Prenatal Care Assistance Program (PCAP)

The Entitlement Workshop is open to everyone – tenants, community residents, and the general public. Light refreshments will be served.
