CGA Receives Grant Awards for Housing Education and Counseling Program

Carroll Gardens Association, Inc. (CGA) would like to thank Investors Foundation and Wells Fargo Housing Foundation for awarding us $2,500 and $1,000, respectively, to help support our Housing Education and Counseling Program!

Starting the Fall of 2014, CGA will offer a new series of workshops under its Housing Education and Counseling Program, with one workshop offered monthly. CGA will be partnering with Investors Bank to present the first workshop in the series, “Pre-Purchase Orientation,” on September 24, 2014. Subsequent workshops will cover such topics as: Using Your Home Equity to Achieve Your Goals, Refinancing Your Home, Affordable Rental Housing Resources, and Foreclosure Prevention.

CGA will also offer regular counseling services to program participants through our housing specialist and by developing collaborative partnerships with Investors Bank and other non-profit organizations. In addition, CGA will promote Investors Bank’s First Home Club program, where first time homebuyers may be eligible to receive up to $7,500 through a $4 to $1 match from Investors Bank.

Our Housing Education and Counseling Program was launched in January 2013, thanks to a previous grant from the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation, with a workshop on “Learn More about Becoming a Homeowner.” This past spring, CGA once again collaborated with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage specialists to present a First Time Home Buyer Workshop. With this new $1,000 grant, CGA hopes to further assist Wells Fargo by promoting its First-Time Homebuyer workshops, steer potential homebuyers to Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Consultants, and assist in marketing of its Home Preservation Assistance program such as “Leading the Way Home” events.
