Carroll Gardens Association, Inc. celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the CGA Training Center on May 20, 2011. Special Guests- of- Honor State Senator Velmanette Montgomery and State Senator Daniel Squadron led the ribbon-cutting, together with CGA Board President Cynthia Gonzalez, CGA Executive Director Vilma Heramia, and the first batch of graduates of the training center. Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez and Borough President Marty Markowitz also graced the occassion. Representatives from Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Assemblywoman Joan Millman, Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes, the 76th Police Precinct, Community Board 6, the NYC Office of Environmental Remediation, and Enterprise Community Partners also attended the event. Board President Cynthia Gonzalez gave the welcome remarks and served as program emcee. Certificates of Completion in Microsoft Office were awarded to the first batch of graduates of the Computer Training Program offered at the CGA Training Center. The Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony was followed by light refreshments.
The CGA Training Center offers Computer Training Classes and a variety of educational workshops. The Computer Literacy Program was funded by State Senator Velmanette Montgomery and State Senator Daniel Squadron through the New York State Department of State.
