Since the organization started offering Free Computer Classes in April 2011, the training has been very popular and has attracted participants that included community residents, low-income individuals, the unemployed, persons with disabilities, veterans, immigrants and minorities, the youth and seniors. For Fiscal Year 2012 to 2013, Carroll Gardens Association, Inc. will be offering 5 training cycles and two levels of training: 1) Introduction to Computers, and 2) Microsoft Office. Each training cycle runs for 7 weeks and sessions will be conducted 2 days a week on Mondays and Tuesdays. All training sessions will be taught by Pablo Sierra, a professional with over 14 years experience on computer training instruction.
One training cycle will be conducted on Introduction to Computers, which is geared towards individuals who have absolutely no background in using computers. During the training, participants will learn about computer operating systems, how to surf the web, how to set-up an email account and send emails, as well as an introduction to Microsoft Word. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion on Introduction to Computers after successfully completing the 7-week program.
The Computer Training on Microsoft Office is a 7-week beginner’s class on MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. Participants will also receive introduction on the use of Social Media, as well have an opportunity to complete a project that will utilize what they have learned on the use of the Internet, Word, Excel, as well as use analytical thinking and research in the process. Four (4) Training Cycles will be conducted on Microsoft Office.
Due to limited space, registration is offered on a first come-first served basis. A $10 Registration Fee is also required to hold your space. Participants will also be required to sign a Commitment Form, committing themselves to complete the 7-week training.
